Sourdough Waffles

Sourdough Waffles


  • 2 cups (454g) of fed sourdough starter (bubble and active)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of a neutral oil (avocado or melted coconut oil)
  • 2 tablespoons of honey, or maple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda


Combine all the ingredients in a big bowl, and whisk until just combined.

Cook waffles based on the directions of your waffle iron. My iron has a red light indicating when the waffles are done, and this takes about 3-5 minutes per waffle.

This recipe makes 6 large waffles in my iron.
